last -a
 
When the "last -a" command is issued:

bob      pts/0        Mon Aug 10 12:41  still logged in    192.168.4.14
jimmy  tty1        Mon Aug 10 11:20  still logged in
jimmy  tty1        Mon Aug 10 11:20 - 11:20  (00:00)
jimmy  tty1        Mon Aug 10 11:12 - 11:18  (00:06)
jimmy  tty1        Mon Aug 10 11:12 - 11:12  (00:00)
reboot  system boot  Mon Aug 10 11:10 - 12:43  (01:33)    2.6.24-24-server

So what "down" exactly mean?
Did jimmy do a shutdown?

Did jimmy do a shutdown?
I would guess jimmy was still logged in when the system rebooted.
