I got the modem working, now I need to get the printer working!
I followed these steps but culdn't get the printer to actually print. I'm using Red Hat 7.1 using the KDE interface 1. I went to the printer configuration under system (menu) 2. I set name to 'HP_LaserJet_1100' 3. Queue type was local printer, /dev/lp0 4. Driver was HP LaserJet 1100 When I go to print it does not find a printer, do I need to restart? Thanks in advance |
Was the Printer on? Sorry, but you'd be surprised :)
Secondly, have you installed cups to get your printer working, you probably did this during the install. Is it a parrall printer? The port you selected was /dev/lp0, is this right? |
After much swearing I got it working. The printer was on but the parellel port lead wasn't in correctly.
Works great! Thank you all Donut |
Glad it wasn't something tricky
I worked in a telephone tech support once for a week, and the amount of people asking me questions about why this wasn't on, or why can't this work, and then asking them if it was turned on, only to hear this silence at the other end, was amazing. Almost laughable, unless you recieved the call at the end of the day.......
