no you are doing it rite. most of the commands i gave you were for diagnosis purposes. once we figure out and fix the driver issue you can set it up to connect to your router on bootup using your network-manager-applet gui (unfortunately, trouble-shooting means diving a bit into the command-line).

ok schneidz what shd i do?? take me real slow im sorry im gonna be a real pain and prob ask silly questions but its the only way i can learn

lil hobo, as I directed to you before as we already have gone through this information already, http://ubuntumanual.org/posts/185/in...iver-in-ubuntu all you have to do is run the highlighted (boxed) commands as it says and finish with a reboot.

ok i typed all the commands in the boxes but it still doesnt work, thing is because i dont understand what they mean im not even sure if there are any errors im making (or if theres any errors in the commands most people notice and compensate for) but now if i go into hardware drivers it says no propriety drivers are in use on this system

woohoo!!! got it working!! the link r3sistance gave me also has link to other page http://ubuntumanual.org/posts/181/qu...talling-ubuntu it said to do this
* You need to install the following packages now. First, Goto System > Administration>Synaptic Package Manager. Search for the following packages.

ubuntu-restricted-extras
compizconfig-settings-manager
