LAN Configuration Access

I have several old machines all running Ubuntu. I have been trying to connect them as a peer to peer network running as a LAN. All the machines ping OK but If I try to log in on one of them access is refused. Everything I read just skips over this part to concentrate on Web access something that "just happens" out of the box. Am I missing something Obvious?
Thanks in Advance

Hello and welcome to LQ!

Can you please tell us how you are trying to log into your computers? Are you following a guide for whatever you are trying to do? You need to be more informative with details so we can help you. Thanks,

Josh

LAN Confiuration Access

I am well aware of the existence of "Google" and make regular use of it thank you. My problem is pretty trivial I know, but what do I type in the browser address box- (general form would be fine) and what else do I need to do to configure the system. Most of the stuff that google trawls up is outdated or irrelevant. If you can give me a link to either of these problems I would be grateful. The three machines are connected to a wireless router and all access the web without problems, as I said before.
