Lan between a host and VM

I want to make a LAN between a host computer, Linux Ubuntu 9.03, and a VM , WIndows XP Sp3. The idea is that VM is installed via VirtualBox. I tried everything but i can't get it out. THankx.

what kind of network setting you are using between your host OS and Guest OS

- NAT
- Bridged

?????

Bridged n/w setting would be as ease... coz u will on the same subnet...

and do you have your Firewall enabled ??... coz that wont allow you to connect

Anyway, I will try to do a bridge.

Thankx, but i didn't find a "perfect show and understandig". I will try to do a bridge, even if i use NAT. In the end i will make it.
I want , if someone can, to show me the steps of seeing from VM(VirtualBOX) the Linux partitions.
