KYRO / PowerVr driver

Another newbie question - i've searched for an answer and couldn't find one.

Ok, so after downloading the powervr driver and following the instructions in the readme, I hit a wall.

Managed to tar zxvf the downloaded file, and issued make install. I don't really understand what I do next!! Should the card list be updated when I run xf86config? Do I need to re-compile the kernel (and how do I do that??).

Any help would be very much appreciated, man I feel so dumb...

tia,
jonner.

Hi Jonner,

For info on compiling programs or kernels check out the tutorials on this page:

http://www-106.ibm.com/developerwork.../tutorials.jsp

Check out the tutorials on LPI as they explain things very well. Especially check out exam 102 parts 1 and 2. They are related to your questions.

You will have to register (free) to be able to get the tutorials.

Hope this helps

Hey. You just go into you're /etc/X11/XF86Config file and in the Graphics section you change both lines where it's written:

Driver "vga"

to

Driver "powervr"

and then it should work with startx ... (Req. everything else in the XF86Config file is configured right).
