For the past 5 years or so I had meant to install and learn to use linux, but for some reason I have never gotten around to it. Guess I didn't want to invest my time half-assed in it. Now that I have a macbook, and needed to install windows (because I have to use some of its programs), I decided to go all out and make it is triple boot system.
Anyways, I am completely new to linux, with next to no programming experience, so as you can image I am a complete noobie when it comes to this. I have used the https://help.ubuntu.com/
community/MacBook website to help me out, and I have been successful with setting up my computer in terms of my touch pad... but other than that I haven't been successful at much else.
Would be nice if there were basically a copy paste instructions for those who have a fresh install of ubuntu. Currently my biggest problems are getting my wireless up and running. Though it connects sometimes to unprotected/unsecure wireless routers, I haven't been able to get it to connect to mine even if I turn off all security measures, it just informs me that connection to device failed.
A friend of mine took a look at it and tired to get it to work with a script that he had written for his computer... however we kept getting a "could not start device controller" message.
I currently have a linksys router with standard WEP encryption. It would be greatly appreciated to have a kind of install and set up guide for Kubuntu 8.04 on a Macbook, but I would settle for the moment with help on getting my wireless up and running.
