Kubuntu 8.10 skype no mic

Hi everybody, I have just installed kubuntu 8.10. Everything went really smooth, except for the fact that my microphone is not working with skype. It's not mute, I have turned all the "capture" tags on (and tried off of course too) in the mixer, but nothing. I can hear the test voice speaking, but it just will not record my own voice. The mic is fully working, as I can hear it in my Headphones, but there's no way to get it working with skype. Any clues? thanks!

Try looking through this thread or even posting your problem there.

There is a lot of good info on Skype in there.

I just installed Ubuntu 8:10 and had the same problem..........it's actually a pretty easy fix all I did was go into skype options then into sound devices and for me I simply changed the sound out and ringing to PULSE and that fixed it for me..........

Hope it helps you.

thanks, i tried the skype forums, but nothing. I do have the pulse option in my soundcard properties, but it's not listed in the available audio settings in skype. i think i'll have to wait for the next version :-( thanks for all your help!

I have the exact same problem. Does anyone know how to fix it? My skype version is (beta) 2.1.0.47, the Linux version.
My mic worked the first time I tried a call with a friend who was on the same network, and since then the mic doesn't seem to be detected. I'm using the built in mic on my Lenovo laptop.
