adept manager won't start

I have just installed my Kubuntu 7.04 last week dual boot with Windows XP Pro

My problem is . . . . when i clicked on the update notifier on the panel i got the following
message

The APT Database could not be opened! This may be caused by incorrect APT configuration or some similar problem. Try running apt-setup and apt-get update in terminal and see if it helps to resolve the problem.

Things Done: I tried apt-setup and apt-get update . . . but to no avail. I cannot open
my adept manager . . . Will anyone please help?

I was same like you. I suggest that when you have problem try to search in google. sometimes writing the exact output of an problem to google you may get the answer that you want.

If i were you, i probably try this:
1. " The APT Database could not be opened! This may be caused by incorrect APT configuration or some similar problem."
2. " HOWTO use apt linux"
3. "define: apt"

I mean start learning from google. There are a lot of people having the same problem with you and they are trying to find a solution in forum pages.

Read tutorials, guides in your spare time to get some basics of linux. When it comes to a spesific problem, you may ask it in here. But try to give as much as information related with your problem.

I've split the unrelated post plus a response out of the
original thread.

Please don't hi-jack others threads.

Cheers,
