Question Ktorrent Use

I am using Knoppix 7.0.5 and would like to know how do I use Ktorrent to work along with Google Chrominum or Iceweasel to download a torrent. I am very new to knoppix so any help would be greatly appreciated. I have a dual core 2.14 ghz-1 gig of memory computer. When I try to download a torrent a window comes up and asks me what application do I want to associate or to run the program. This is user pushmeping.

knoppix is a live cd
and normally not installed

you would need to reinstall everything after every reboot ( every time you boot off the cd )

and any torrent you start to DL will have to be re done on every reboot
after you reinstall ktorrent and chromium

it sounds like you really NEED to use a installed operating system and NOT a "live OS "

A lot of people like Linux Mint

install it to the hard drive and go from there

Knoppix is installed on hard-drive and is running as the operating system. Do I have to run Ktorrent seperately from the web-browser or do I start Ktorrent and then access the torrent. Thanks in advance!

If you have ktorrent installed just click on the torrent, when it comes up you will have 3 targets
"open with ktorrent" or "save file" or "cancel" let ktorrent open. a screen will come up and tell it ok.
You will be set to go!

ktorrent

ktorrent is nice, but like utorrent and bittorrent you have to go to a specific torrent site. I like to use qbittorrent 'sudo apt-get install qbittorrent', it has a search engine that uses python script and will look up many different torrent sites for you. Also http://torrentz.eu/ is another torrent site that looks across many other torrent sites to help find a file that you are looking for. I like torrenting because you can share files with many people and vise verse, but please remember "if you like the software support the developers and purchase it." (quote from skidrow)

I tried the sudo apt-get install qbittorent and it gave the following message "unable to locate package qbittorent. What I really need is to get ktorrent to work. It seems like I have a problem of associating the program to the type of file. Maybe some steps on if ktorrent is installed properly. So far I cannot get it to work when i go to "thepiratebay.se". It asks me what program do I use to open the file. Any help would be appreciated.

This is a problem associated with firefox. Open firefox and go to "edit" then down to "preferences".
Next go over to "applications" Look under applications for the word "magnet" click on the "down arrow"
Next click on "use other" then go to file system and then to /use/bin and set ktorrent as your magnet.
