ktorrent crash in kubuntu ; dapper drake

went to bugs.kde.org to find a solution. when i found it i realized there is more i need to learn. i bought a book, UBUNTU HACKS by oxer, rankin, and childers which has helped. in this book i see things like managing repositories, i understand i need these to install software, not sure why or how to install them. paths, i grasp the concept but unshure where to use them. sitting endlesly on the internet finding these things is a bit time consuming (somehting i have a lack of). its easier for me to read a book, then i have a reference right at hand to go back to. :study: i really like linux and i need a push in the right direction twoard a better understanding of getting around, tweaking, and pretty much just ubuntu basics. for now im going back to the kde bug page, maybe i'll figuere out how to fix my ktorrent. by the way when i insalled kubuntu i noticed it could not install the security updates. can anyone tell me how to get these.:newbie:

you install software through the Synaptic Package Manager
the repos are in /etc/apt/sources.list
you might want to get a newer version of kubuntu, the newest version is kubuntu 7.04

I had same problems with ubuntu, too much crashing and bugs. I then moved to Debian, and life changed by You cant imagine how much better. No problems with Debian, or just my fault, since they programmed that so well.
Azureus & ktorrent were buggy with ubuntu dapper. Try higher or debian.
