Kppp on mandrake 9.2 and Knoppix

I'm a bit new to this Linux thing, after using windows for years I have installed a dual boot of mandrake 9.2.
I have also downloaded Knoppix which boots fine from the cd.

Whenever I try to connect Knoppix to the internet using Kppp I get the error message "Could not load the accountibng ruleset Argentina.rst"

Anyone know how to fix this? It dials up and everything ok, and the modem responds to a query modem, but I just get this error message and can't get any web pages up.

Regarding Mandrake, using the drak connect wizard, it won't pick up my modem. The modem is a hayes accura 14.4, which Knoppix picks up fine.
How can I install this modem on Mandrake?

Thanks,

Kevorkian.

Well not sure whether this is good or bad news, but I'd say that you'll need to have a good lood around this site because if you've never had your modem configured under linux, you need to find out whether you can or not.

Knoppix is absolutely brilliant for hardware detection, so it doesn't suprise me that it see's your modem. But if it is a "winmodem" there may or maynot be a driver available for it - this is of course, presuming that it's a dial up.

Personally, I'm in the fortunate position of having a dsl service - so my life is infinitely easier.

regards

John

p.s. Have a check of the site ive linked, when you know whether it's a winmodem or not, then search LQ about installing drivers for them (if you need to of course), because it's a common problem, for those who are just migrating over.
