KPPP Dialup Error
Hi,
I am trying to dial up from my laptop using KPPP... but somehow the dialing up always exits with an error code 1. Viewing the logs, I get this: Jul 20 18:07:58 localhost pppd[1066]: pppd 2.3.11 started by root, uid 0 Jul 20 18:07:58 localhost pppd[1066]: ioctl(PPPIOCGFLAGS): Invalid argument Jul 20 18:07:58 localhost pppd[1066]: tcsetattr: Invalid argument Jul 20 18:07:58 localhost pppd[1066]: Exit. I am not too sure of what is the problem.. my modem has been detected properly after I installed the pcmcia-cs packet.. but I can't seem to dial in... Been surfing around to look for answers but just can't seem to find the right ones.. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot!!! Regards, Tub |
I'll give it a shot.
In the front of Kppp there is a little tab, tick it it's for the debugging window and will allow you to see what is happening. Is your isp script based or other. As an example mines is script based so I had to select script based as well as the commands to expect and send Ie; expect....ogin..send..????...expect assword....send.....???? those settings can be done from the ppp dialogue. Also did you set up the dns server for it to loginto? You may have to speak to your Isp as to what you need to enter in the dialogues. |
hmmm... i've had this problem too, but it's been a while.
does wvdial work? try using it instead of kppp... have you upgraded your kernel? moving from kernel 2.2.x to 2.4.x significantly affects the ppp modules. |
