Kppp dialer Vs. Everything else!

Is Kppp dialer normally such a resource hog that once you have connected with it you can't start any other programs? I have to start Netscape before I dial my isp 'cos once connected no other progs will start up, all buttons and icons are useless.
Is this right?
Can netscape be configured to start it's own connection?

never seen any problems with kppp to the extent of it limiting other programs from not loading.. what happens if you try to start the program from the terminal after connecting, and have you tried any other dialer to test????

Just one problem with that...

(sorry I haven't been back in a while)
I can't even open a terminal once I'm online (kppp and netscape running). None of the taskbar buttons or desktop icons respond!
I'm presuming kppp is the problem 'cos I can't even start netscape after I connect to my isp, if I don't start netscape first the connection is useless really.

Something similar happened to me when I tried to run kppp while I was using GNOME. When it finished dialing and connecting, it tried to dock itself and since it had nowhere to go, it froze up everything that wasn't already open and I ended up having to reboot my system before I could open any other programs.

What is dockiing? What does it mean the dialer was looking for a place to dock itself? What does it mean that the dialer had no place to dock itself? Thanks
