Kopete, cannot use ./configure while installing it, i'm on slackware

Hello!
I'm on slackware and using KDE. I tried to install Kopete like other programs for slack, using kopete.07.3.i486blabla.tgz and kopete.07.3.i386blabla.tgz but I can't find the nor the configure nor the install script.
I typed:

tar zxvf kopeteblabla.tgz

-- it unzips, and 2 directories are created directly in home, usr/ and opt/
-- no kopete07blabla directory is created
-- then i typed:

configure

--inside the usr/ directory and opt/ directory, but this is what happens:

bash: configure: command not found

-- I looked for the configure and install scripts but they are not anywhere.
-- I read the readme file and it said something about an "autoconf" program --that create the configure script using a "config.in" file.
-- I looked for those files but none of them is there.

Can anyone tell me what to do? or what am I doing wrong???

It looks it's a file you can use with 'pkgtool'. Use cd to switch to the directory you have the file you downloaded and thn run 'pkgtool'. It should ask you if you wish to install the package and install it when you say 'yes'.
