kontact, kpilot, sony clie
i am trying to figure out how to configure my sony clie sj-22 with my mandrake linux 10.1 community laptop.
i have found that i should use kpilot with kontact, but unsure how to set these up together. through the console i have found that kpilot is install on my computer, or at least some kpilot files are. in the directory /usr/include/kpilot i found 8 *.h files. i do not know if there are more files or what to do. should i download and compile the newest version of kpilot? i cannot run kpilot or find any reference to it anywhere else on my computer. what should i do? if you have any resources or tips that could help me along the way they would be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance for your help. |
You will need kpilot (the version on your CDs should be sufficient). Make sure it is installed. Go to the Mandrake Control Center/Software Management window (rpmdrake), click on the "install" button, and search for kpilot.
You also need pilot-link, version 0.11.8. That should also be on your installation CDs. When everything is installed, kpilot should be in your menues. IIRC, it is kind of hidden; somewhere under office applications. If all else fails, try running "kpilot" from the command line. I believe it lives under /usr/bin, when properly installed. (I am at work, and unable to check right now.) |
I could not install the version off my CDs because it asks for CD4 for the install. I do not have CD4 and was only used three to install my system. ??
Therefore, I downloaded the tarball from the kpilot site and have been trying to work with the configure for some time. I had a great deal of problem with qt checking because the install was looking for qt 3.3 and I had 3.2. I read a great deal about people's problem's similar to mine, but thought the configure was looking in the wrong place. This was my own stupid error. Now I run into the following error message when trying to configure. checking for makekdewidgets... not found configure: error: The important program makekdewidgets was not found! Please check whether you installed KDE correctly. I have done many searches on the google and cannot find any resources for this problem. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide. |
Follow the link in my sig to EasyUrpmi, and set up your repository mirrors. Us the 10.1 *Official* sources, not 10.1 Community. Set up "main", "updates", "contrib", and "plf" both free and non-free. Then go back to rpmdrake (the software installation gui) and try again. (You will probably have to "uncheck" your CDs from the Media Management panel, first.)
