Unhappy Konqueror won't let me change file sharing attributes

HI, I broke Konqueror. I was trying to set up a file to be shared on a windows network, which is not easy for a newbie. In Konqueror I right clicked the file and selected 'share' and a control box came up. I set the file to shared and then pressed the 'Configure File Share' button. I must of edited the wrong thing in that window because now when I try this the share file box is grayed out. If I use the chmod command I can change the file mode bits, but I do not know if that is the same as changing the share properties. If I log in as root I can change the share properties with Konqueror, but only in my own directory. On another thread I saw that deleting the .kde file would cause KDE to create a new one and that the Konqueror configuration would be reset. I cannot find this file. I tried reinstalling the KDE desk top, but that had no effect. Anyone else have this problem?

I'm sure there will be some good answers for you, but for starters a little question of my own:

When you tried to find your ".kde" file, where and how did you look? Try opening up a shell and doing an "ls -la" while in your home directory. There are a lot of 'hidden' files and directories (indicated by the dot at the beginning of the filename) that you wouldn't see otherwise.

If you delete your .kde folder, all of your custom KDE settings will vanish, so be forewarned.

Thank you for the tip, Poetics. I found the folder and deleted it. Unfortunately it really messed up my desktop and worse yet it did not fix the problem.
