right-click on some empty area of konqueror toolbars, then select "configure toolbars" You can also find this under "settings"

OK, well, this may not be the easiest way to fix the problem, but you can do this: (make sure konqueror is not running)

cd ~/.kde/share/config
vim konquerorrc

About halfway down you will see:

[KonqMainWindow Toolbar bookmarkToolBar]
Hidden=true
IconSize=22
IconText=IconTextRight
Index=0
NewLine=false
Offset=-1
Position=Top

There will be one of these for each toolbar. Change Hidden=true to Hidden=false for the toolbars you want. Then fire up konqueror and you should be golden.

rofl

ok
whilst trying to do what you told me i discovered that when the menu bar is hidden, there is an extra option on the right click within windowpane menu that allows it to be turned on again

many thanks for your time and trouble
