Redhat uses grub and the configuration file is /boot/grub.conf (on most distros it's /boot/grub/menu.lst). Mandrake can use either grub or lilo, depending on your selection during initial installation or through the Mandrake Control Centre. The lilo config file is in /etc/lilo.conf.

My RedHat (triple boot RH8,RH7.3,W2K) uses lilo :) It might be that grub is the default, but I've always selected lilo.
I think RH switched to grub as the default in RH7.3 (or RH7.2).

When you boot the system (and it's a multiboot), you should be able to see what it uses).

I think grub became the default in Redhat 9+.

7.3 already had it (to my knowledge). An inexperienced colleague of mine managed to install it in a fresh install.
Later he forgot the password for it :D
