Know of a livecd with ati drivers and open office?

I'm brand new to Linux and want to try it out on my laptop. I've downloaded several live cds (knoppix, kanotix) and the problem is that the max resolution is 1024x768. I want to set my screen to 1280x800 and I have an ATi mobility radeon xpress 200 series graphics card.

So, does anyone know of a livecd that comes with ati drivers and open office (or its equivalent)? Alternatively, is there an easy way to add ati drivers to an existing livecd (I know nothing about Linux)?

Thanks for your help.

Hi and welcome to LQ.

You might want to try out Ubuntu or Pentoo. They got ati drivers, and I think Ubuntu has openoffice too.

For more info and not at least good ideas...check out distrowatch here:

Thanks antiloaded and meirbenezra.

So I've tried pentoo and slax but still the max resolution is 1024x768. Now I've tried like 6 editions of Linux and none of them allow me to increase the resolution beyond 1024x768.
Any thoughts?

Try mepis. It has both those things and you can install to h/d from the live cd.
