Knoppix messed up my internet?

I recently have been using Knoppix 3.7 for various things. One thing I found is that after extended periods of time (say more than an hour, maybe more), my internet craps out. For some reason, I just don't have an internet connection. I can still connect to my router, and I have plugged myself directly into the wall ( I live in a dorm room, so I don't have a modem, just an outlet )... still nothing.

I restarded in Windows, and still nothing. I shut down my computer, and left it alone for a while, and it worked again. This only happened once. Right now, I'm writing this from a different computer, because mine just wont connect to the internet. Any ideas?

You need to clarify your question, and provide more information:

1. Is the Knoppix running from a CD or is the Knoppix OS installed on your hard drive?

2. You start out talking about Knoppix. At the end of the post you talk about Windoz not connecting. Please clarify. [NOTE: If neither Knoppix nor Windoz connects there might be a hardware problem]

3. I am an IT Dept Head at a University. Your University MAY have a no Linux in the dorms policy, due to the fact that inexperienced users (or users with ulterior motives) often load Linux and wind up running DHCP, ICMP, unauthorized NFS, etc servers. These unknown servers can wreak havoc on the dorm networks. If you cannot connect at all you might want to call your campus IT to see if your connection was turned off for violating campus policy.

I am using knoppix 3.7 right now, and it is on our campus network, been on for a few hours now. No problems here, did you look in you log files to see if anything is going on? Maybe something to do with authentication on the campus network? If it happens again, check log files and ifconfig to see what happened.
I don't understand about you shutting your computer down for awhile and it worked, but now you are using another computer because yours won't connect?
