knoppix laptop problem

Hi,
I have a HP Compaq nx9105 laptop (AMD64 3000+, 512RAM, 60GB, GeForce 440 go). When I boot from Knoppix 3.6 CD, after the screen when I must enter kernel parammeters (suppose I give none, any frame buffer or no hwdr detection) my computer stops responding: black screen, no HDD activity, no sound.
What must I do to fix this problem?

Thanks

I'd suggest a more recent Knoppix with a newer kernel ...

Cheers,
Tink
