knoppix install maybe !

Hi...... wondering if anybody can offer any advice and point out any obvious pitfalls with installing knoppix.

I have xp on a primarty master drive and mepis on a slave drive using Grub as bootloader. I can re-partition the slave drive for knoppix (plenty of space) but after that other than 'fingers-crossed' not much idea. I am aware it is primarily a live cd and if this may be a bad idea by all means feel free to ridicule me.

Thank you for any input.

I can't offer any advice on dual booting but I run a hard drive install of Knoppix and love it. It was an easy install, recognized everything and it is fast. Updates are easy, everything about it is great.

the best thing would be to install it without installing the bootloader.then just edit your current grub bootloader to point it towards the new install.
as stated it is fast (stripped down debian) ,you can apt-get whatever you feel is missing, and the hardware detection has always #1 of any distro (close call to red hat's anoconda, both are excellent).

Thank you piscikeeper/brainiac for the benefit of your know-how. I do want to give it a 'go' - I'll let you know in a few days when I have chance to 'take the plunge'.
