thats my problem it won't boot to it. My problem is making the cd a bootable cd and there is no clear instructions on how to make it. ubuntu boots right up but knoppix won't. It just skips over it and goes to windows. All I did was take the knopix iso and burned it to a cd but it's not recongnized as a bootable cd. I tried puting the basic dos junk to boot the system but nothing recongizes the knoppixs iso. I've just used windows to darm long and havent quit figured out the linux lingo yet. I like knoppix becuase it supports my cf card reader and mp3 files.

I think what he needs, and what I need to is how to make a CD boot from the ISO. I am on a Windows XP and would like to know how to make a bootable CD so I can also have knoppix I have the ISO I just need to get it to a boot disk and boot it up. How do I create a CD rom boot disk from Windows XP that will boot it?

Cool - that worked for me, the only problem I have is the installed GRUB (used for Redhat) does not recognise Knoppix and I have to use a LILO boot disk (is there anyway to boot Knoppix using the GRUB?).

TIA.

I was thinking about installing knoppix3.4 onto my HD, but the readme seemed to warn against it unless you are very experienced. Do more current versions of knoppix make it easier to do this?

You could try Mepis based on Debian
From what I have read it is supposed to be very easy to install

I am VERY inexperienced with Linux - thankfully there are forums like this with helful, knowledgeable Linux users to help the learning. The 3.7 install was very simple to follow your partition and a couple of minor options (like hostname)....hey presto.
