I've got a Knoppix hard drive install that's working great. I've got wireless internet, got Guarddog up and running - real nice. One strange thing - if I log in as root the sound works perfectly, but if I log in as my normal username it works sometimes and not others (seemed to fail after I ran weekly cron last night, then booted it when not online?)

So I am guessing I have a permissions isse with some files the system needs - root has 'em, the user doesn't? Just a guess. Can anyone lead me in the right direction to chase down the possible culprits?
