kmail not doing anything.

i get a "You need to add an account in the network section of the settings in order to receive mail."when i try to retrieve mail.
in the settings of of Kmail,there is NO network to choose.i can configure firefox and make it work in windows,and i am very frustrated.so,here are my e mail settings from firefox.
server type--pop mail server---port 110--default is also 110
server name ---pop.dnvr.qwest.net
user --blah blah blah@qwest.net (that's me,well not really)
password--******
outgoing server ---smtp-- pop.dnvr.qwest.net:25 (port 25)
so,i think Kmail asks for entirely too much information.i either have the right info in all the wrong places,or i dont understand what to put in the correct places.the same e mail works on the same computers in windows xp,but i get squat! with Kmail.i had an easier time setting up e mail on a dreamcast game console!!!!
seriously,please help me

KMail - choose from menus
Settings ->
Configure KMail ->
Network ->
Then there's one tab for Sending, select it then choose
Add ->
SMTP ->
and the name of your server goes in
Host:
and then there's another tab for Receiving, select it then choose
Add ->
POP3 ->
and the name of your server goes in
Host:
