kinput2 and canna work, but can't actually use them...

Hi,

I've been struggling for a while, and have done a lot of searching to try to figure this out... to no avail .. I'm running fluxbox on debian sarge by the way..

cannaserver seems to be running properly, as well as 'kinput2 -canna &'.. but shift-space doesnt do anything...

I think I have some locale problems, but I'm not sure if this is the cause for input to not work...

I'm currently doing the following from an xterm: (cannaserver starts up during bootup)

export XMODIFIERS="@im=kinput2"
export XINPUT="kinput2"
export LC_CTYPE="ja_JP"
export LC_TIME="ja_JP"
kinput2 -canna &
kterm &

I get the following error when starting kterm..
"Couldn't set locale: ja_JP.eucJP,ja_JP.ujis,ja_JP.EUC,japanese.euc,Japanese-EUC,ja,japan"

I really have no idea how to fix this =[
can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks
