I am trying to run kickstart from hard drive, do this file system type needs to be ext2? Or can it be ext2 as well?

thanks in advance.

Here's a snip from the source...

The installation program will mount the filesystem on <device> (which must be vfat or ext2), and look for the kickstart configuration file as <file> in that filesystem (for example, ks=hd:sda3/mydir/ks.cfg).
If you were using a floppy, it could be vfat or ext2 also.
