Keyboard Problem After Recent Update

After recent update, the terminal window in the gnome desktop incorrectly maps the "x" key directly to a menu item File->Open Terminal X. This opens a new terminal window right in the middle of typing a command.

If I turn CAPSLOCK on and then type SHIFT-x I can get a lower case x but obviously thats incredibly annoying.

I did recently install the latest nvidia display drivers:
linux_display_ia32_169.12

I also remember a recent set of updates yesterday that I applied to my new install which included xorg.

Fedora (2.6.24.3-12.fc8)

I remember something like this happening to me once on an Ubuntu system with Gnome. Somehow, my accessibility options got changed. You can check them by going to your preferences (under one of the pulldown menus next to "applications") > accessibility options > keyboard. Then just uncheck "Enable keyboard accessibility features" if it's checked.

If not, I'm not sure what's going on.

More like anti-accesibility

a sticky modifier key would make sense if I had actually used one. I will give this a shot on Monday but I have doubts. Meanwhile i'll just ssh from another machine and while being careful to avoid the letter x while my boss is looking over my shoulder.

Its not accessibility options

Nothing was enabled in that section. I'll probably need to write or find a simple app to see what keycode is actually being received. That should rule out whether the problem is with the terminal or with the OS.
