Keyboard layouts and languages in Xfce

I installed Xfce on my Mepis machine. Everything works fine, only I need to write not only in English but also in Hebrew and possibly in other languages that require different keyboard layouts (and alphabets and directions) and I have no idea how to switch to these.

In KDE I simply added the necessary layouts from the KDE control center and that was it.

What do I need to do in order to be able to switch between layouts/languages in Kfce?

(please take into consideraiton that I am a beginner, so don't assume any prior knowledge.)
