keyboard is borked
 

Hi,

when im typing on my keyboard sometimes linux thinks that Im holding the keeeeeeeeeeeeeeyss ... there it happened, it thought I held the e button, bu I didn't. (And I did write a 't' in that but, but it simply wasn't recognized by linux.
Im am using a standard logitech keyboard, and my XFConfig-4 has this section:

Section "InputDevice"
Identifier "Keyboard0"
Driver "keyboard"
Option "CoreKeyboard"
Option "XkbRules" "xfree86"
Option "XkbModel" "pc105"
Option "XkbLayout" "us"


Im getting so fu"#¤"# tired of thissssss that I might just install "#¤"# Redhat.

I have tried with 3 differet keyboard so I think it must be the configuratin.

Check your BIOS - it might have a key press repeat rate setting. Mine does.

keyboard works fine when I boot windows for gaming.

If you're using KDE, it also has a keyboard repeat rate setting in the peripherals settings area.

I had sticky-key problems with my notebook running
apmd ... all well since switched to ACPI.

And please clean the language of your post up
a bit ...

I have neither of the mentioned packages installed.
But "sticky keys" seems to describe the problem quite well.
I have tried to use the keyboard auto-repeat control both in XFree86-4 and in the KDE control-center earlier, with no solving of the problem.
Sticky keys along with a very slow "new key pressed" upppate seems to e theroblem. (just one sentence without my corrections...)

Suddenly the space ke, the 6666666666666 is turned onas if pressed, while I didn't touc t at all !!!

Pleae help, I will do my est to control mylanguage :-))

I understand that you are frustrated at your keyboard, but is there any particular reason why your backspace key doesn't work?

Just because you are having the problem, it doesn't mean that you must feel obliged to share the output of the problem with us - delete the characters that are not required, it will make your post much easier to read.

Dont be afraid to pull apart your keyboard
and give it a good clean
a vacuum cleaner with those neat little attachments wont go astray either
I do mine quite regularly and you'll be surprised how much crap and dust gets in there

JUST remember to make a note of how all your keys are arranged !!

It sounds like the problem is that it's not checking for keypresses/releases often enough. I dunno how to fix it but maybe that will help someone else fix it...

Yes that sounds correct !!
Except that buttons also keep pushing themselves, even when I haven't touched them ...
I have lived with it for a couple of weeks, and its getting very mush on my nerves :-S

Do you have another kernel (older or newer) compiled to see if the problem still occurs?

Yeah that would happen if it missed your keyrelease (it would think you're still holding the button).

Hmmm, that is a new idea - I might just do that. But again, Im probably not the only one with a 2.6.5 kernel :-)

True, but it just might be the combination of hardware / software (kernel) perculiar to your situation.
