Keyboard gone crazy on Ubuntu - diacriticals everywhere!
My ubuntu keyboard insists on diacriticals and not normal characters. For example, instead of double quote l I get an accented character. How do I switch this infuriating behavior off?

Try this one.
System>Preferences>Keyboard
Go to layout tab.
Check your keyboard layout if it is under USA layout.
