Since a few hours my keyboard is not working. The weird thing is that I can type my password when i login. However once I'm logged in the keyboard isn't working. This is why i'm pretty sure it is a software problem and not a hardware problem. I tried a reboot but it didn't work.
I use kubuntu 6.06
The keyboard is a wireless keyboard but I don't think this causes the problem.
Thanks, but it just started working a few minutes ago. I don't know why, I just pressed the shift button for a few seconds --> got some sort of message --> pressed ok/continue --> worked!!
Could be kaccess, I have the same problem (it eats some keystrokes, I need to press more than 1second) under kde since a few days, didn't found a solution yet. Only things that help:
kill kaccess

stop kaccess from starting at boot? there is a KDE Daemons section in the control centre somewhee, kaccess is probably in there, you should be able to disable it.

Yes, that would be an idea thanks.
But I would have like to correct the cause... it only appears less than a month ago. I've seen a few persons having the same problem.
Enough annoying that I switched to another wm.
edit: no its not in there, I have put everything to default in "accessibility" which I may have changed 1 month ago. I logoff..
Thanks a lot ethics, eventhough it was simple I didn't thought about it.
I can use back kde.
So the fix for me was to set everything to default in KDE controlcenter-> accessibility.
Now only this damn libcairo stuff.
I found the solution to the problem: It seemed that I pressed the shift button to long (8 sec). When i did it again it all worked. but thanks for the replies anyway.
