kernel update

I am an absolute newbie with linux (1 week after intallation !!!)
I have updated from Fedora core2 to core3. My kernel is 2.6.10-1.771_FC2.
Could someone help me with the basics of updating my kernel to FC3. Many thanks

You don't need to update your kernel. You just need to update it if you need a new feature or if you have a hardware needs support from the kernel. Otherwise, updating or compiling a new kernel is no easy (or necessary) task for a newbie
