KERNEL SOURE help!
Thankyou for reading my message in advance.
I recently installed kernel source version 2.4.20-6 for Red Hat Linux 9.0. (rpm version) since the Kernel source is needed to install a smlink driver. I don’t know whether it was supposed to, but it installed itself to the directory: /lib/modules/… and I forgot the rest (anyway it wasn’t usr/src/…). My Red Hat Distribution did not come with the source (it came with Red Hat Linux For Dummies and it’s a publisher’s edition). I tried to install the driver but there was various errors and I think that it was because the kernel source wasn't installed correctly. Please help me! Thanks P.S. Please explain things very simply because I'm truly a newbie to Linux!:p |
If you provide as much details as possible it might help your reponses, like error messages, etc?

did you install the kernel-headers instead of the full source?

Thanks for you guy's reply
I don't know about the headers. I just clicked on the rpm which automatically installed the source....Can you guys teach me how to install the headers? Also the smlink modem error was "make:*** [kernel-ver.o] Error 1" |
