kernel, selinux , yum question


1.
which should be command i used to install a kernal either 'rpm -ivh' or 'rpm -Uvh'. means in which case chances of old kernel failure are more.
2.
what sould be name given in the [ ] brackets in this repository using yum.
if this is path 'ftp://server1.example.com/pub/Server'
should i write Server word in [ ] brackets or any word.
3.
when i enforcing selinux using lokkit command, should i put security level enable or disable.
plz help.

can you specify a little bit what exactly you want to do ? are u building a new kernel and planning to replace it with the existing one, or, are you planning to install kernel using yum ?

for installing kernal without effecting old
#rpm -ivh kernal.....
new will become default you can change that in /etc/grub.conf

FOR YUM
[server](you can write anything here)
name=server
baseurl=ftp://server1.example.com/pub/Server

i dont know about lokkit but for enforcing selinux its
#setenforce 1
