kernel panic - not syncing : VFS????????????

Hello,

I have been using Mandrake 10.1 for a while and I am not liking it at all. it is full of bugs and I wanted to move to Fedora core 3. Well, I downloaded its 4 ISOs and burned them to CD and as soon as I try to install it it gives me :

"RAMDISK: Compressed Image found at block 0
kernel panic - not syncing : VFS : unable to mount root fs on unknown-block (3,0)"

Well, I had Windows XP on my machine and I removed it completely cuz I thought it is causing the problem, but no change.
I really don't know what else to do. Please help.

Thanks.

Alireza

Thanks for the reply.

Well, my hdd is partitioned like this:

120 GB HDD:

C: 6GB
D: 30GB
rest (fo linux): 57GB

so I guess what you suggested I do, does not interfere with my Windows XP stuff right?

Thanks again

Well as I said, I have just windows XP installed right now and I am trying to install Fedora Core 3 fresh. So I guess I don't have any lilo.conf yet right?

Thanks for your help
