Kernel Panic
Dear friends & experts,
This is prakash from India.
I have a server (Redhat 8.0) and a client(Redhat 9.0) . My aim is, to mount a file system which is exported already in the Server as Client's root file system (Redhat 9.0). In the server i have a distribution in the path /prakash/i386.
I tried the following way.
I put the following entries in /etc/lilo.conf of Client:
image="/boot/vmlinuz-2.4.20-8" //Build kernel
label="Prakash"
append="nfsroot=192.168.1.102:/prakash/i386" // this path has the distribution. (192.168.1.102 - server system)
read-only
If i boot the system with this setup, the System shows that
.......
Freeing initrd memory : 145k freed
VFS:Mounted root (ext2 filesystem).
RedHat nash version 3.4.42 starting
Loading jbd.o module
Journalled Block Device Driver Loaded
Loading ext3.o module

Pivotroot: Pivot_root (/sysroot,/sysroot/initrd) failed:2
umount /initrd/proc failed:2
Freeing unused kernel memory:132k freed
kernel panic: No init found Try passing init= option to kernel.
I surfed the net and put some entries in /etc/lilo.conf (client) like this :
i)
image="/boot/vmlinuz-2.4.20-8"
label="Prakash"
initrd="/boot/initrd-2.4.20-8.img"
append="nfsroot=192.168.1.102:/prakash/i386 init=/bin/sh"
read-only
ii)
image="/boot/vmlinuz-2.4.20-8"
label="Prakash"
initrd="/boot/initrd-2.4.20-8.img"
append="nfsroot=192.168.1.102:/prakash/i386 init=192.168.1.102:/prakash/i386/sbin/init"
read-only
iii)
image="/boot/vmlinuz-2.4.20-8"
label="Prakash"
initrd="/boot/initrd-2.4.20-8.img"
append="nfsroot=192.168.1.102:/prakash/i386 init=/etc/sysconfig/init"
read-only
None of the above doesnt work properly.
