Kernel panic

hi to everybody!

I have a problem with Fedora Core 4.

I compile a new kernel (2.6.19.2) using:

make menuconfig (choose my options...)
make bzImage
make modules
make modules_install
make install

but when i restart the system and choose the new kernel in grub, this error appears while it is starting:

...
Activating Logical Volumes
Unable to find volume group "VolGroup00"
ERROR: /bin/lvm exited abnormally with value 5 ! ( pid 320)
Creating root device
Mounting root filesystem
mount: error 6 mounting ext3
Switching new root
ERROR opening /dev/console !!!! : 2
error dup2'ing fd of 0 to 0
error dup2'ing fd of 0 to 1
error dup2'ing fd of 0 to 2
unmounting old /proc
unmounting old /sys
switchroot: mount failed: 22
Kernel panic - not syncing: Attempted to kill init!

and it ends there. ¿Why does it happens? ¿How can i solve it?

Thanks

May need an initrd image.
mkinitrd -v -f /boot/initrd-2.6.xx-yy.img 2.6.xx-yy
something like that...
