Kernel Module Crash
 

So I've been using Ubuntu for a while, mostly just messing around on it I dont know much about the system so I decided to post here.

I was using ubuntu 10.10 and it seemed to be working fine. I'm dual booting Windows 7 and my Ubuntu OS, the Linux partition being my primary operating system that I use for school for notes, etc. I upgraded to ubuntu 11.04 using the update manager as I usually do, however, when i attempted to load my system, i got a crash error saying that it could not locate the kernel module. I can enter into the "previous linux distrubutions", and open those up fine, with the skin that appears to be Ubuntu 11.04. Everything seems to be fine here, but when i load the Grub OS loader and pick the first one on the list, the newest Ubuntu distro, it crashes. any help here?

Sounds Like you have bad install reinstall the upgrade... May want to search Ubuntu's website to see if anyone had related issues....


Reminder you should back up all your data to external format such as DVD, Blue ray, tape drive or a external drive... I dont back up the OS unless its Windows crap.....

I try to make sure I know the software I install... So practice finding the software is a choir ,but it allows you to become familiar with install process and apt-get, apt-search .....

Later on if you decide to change your flavor of Linux to Arch Linux, Slackware or Gentoo you will have half the battle down...

You sound like you never used the terminal and apt-get in the terminal.. Best for you to learn this idea now makes life easier..

Of course I understand your time is limited with going to school... I would pro-sue this idea when you get a break in your schedule...

I personally haven't played with Ubuntu or Debian in about 1 year sorry my skills in Debian are a bit rusty....

I will have to do IRC chat again and get my skills back and my notes back....
