Kernel Logging Question...

RedHat 7.2 and up specific...

First off, do I need it on?

If so, should I seperate it from syslogd? How?

If not, how do I turn it off?

Thanks...

why turn it off? it's not taking up any resources, and it's really useful.

well... the boss has told me that it is on.... this tells me he wants it off...

I am given very cryptic instructions by my superiors and was wondering what I should do...

how do I seperate kernel logging from my /var/log/messages file?

/var/log/messages is being cluttered up with kernel messages and I am assuming this is what the bossman doesn't like...

i'd say use "dmesg -n 0" or similar then, check the manpage for a full listing of the values you can set
