Kernel Logging Question...
RedHat 7.2 and up specific...
First off, do I need it on? If so, should I seperate it from syslogd? How? If not, how do I turn it off? Thanks... |
why turn it off? it's not taking up any resources, and it's really useful.
|
well... the boss has told me that it is on.... this tells me he wants it off...
I am given very cryptic instructions by my superiors and was wondering what I should do... how do I seperate kernel logging from my /var/log/messages file? /var/log/messages is being cluttered up with kernel messages and I am assuming this is what the bossman doesn't like... |
i'd say use "dmesg -n 0" or similar then, check the manpage for a full listing of the values you can set

I love how ppl can't just provide the answer your looking for... I would spell out how to do this but I grow tired of answering my own questions around here... maybe I ought to rethink my sig a bit... |
