Kernel Differences
 
Just wondering, whats the difference between a standard kernel, and the mandrake ones, ie. the ones that have mdk on the end of the filename?

If upgrading the kernel, do I have to use a mandrake one?

You didn't install the developmental packages? As root, command:
urpmi gcc
