kernel 2.6.5 and my USB mouse

Hi

I had installed new kernel 2.6.5, on my RH9 distro

but first thing i hit after launching it was that my USB mouse not working.

In fact while loading it complains about almost every single module, and i dont think it loads any of them. (i checked with lsmod)

furthermore, running generate-modprobe.conf in kernel 2.6.5 results in:

modprobe: QM_MODULES: Function not implemented
Warning: not translating path [ ...

I am still a newb, so please help me. I will provide with any info you will request, I just dont know what file or output to list here.

I have following: nForce2 based mobo, Radeon 9700pro, logitech mx500 mouse

Thanks
Alex

did you do "make modules" and "make modules_install" ?
did you select the modules you needed in the .config ?

yes, i did

>did you select the modules you needed in the .config ?

how do i know what modules I need?

>Do you have the latest version of module_init_tools installed??

yes i do. I installed it in my current kernel 2.4.20-30.9 tho. Does it matter?

Please keep it comming , guys

I installed kernel 2.4.25 , but it produced a lot of errors while loading and even failed to start X
seems like i have problems with modules/drivers. Is there some kind of guide on that? I know next to nothing about that stuff.

Thanks
Alex
