kernel 2.6.4 modules sound and modem
 

I know theres alot of these posts about 2.6.4 kernel and modules.i'm using this post as a last resort considering i've compiled this kernel at least 15 times which takes way too long on a 400mhz..anyway.. i'm having problems with my sound card (sb 16 isa card) and my modem,(which i can assign in ttys* on the old kernel with no problem) not being recognised..i've tried recompiling with isa support,oss,alsa,and the specific modules built into kernel and as modules....and yes i updated my mod utils with module init tool pre 6..whats the best way to do this built in or as modules and what also could be going wrong here????i've followed the readme correctly with the kernel and with module init tools..btw i do my compiling via terra term pro if that makes any difference...thanks for any help i can get....Ron Hoffman

whats the name of the kenrel module for that sound card ?
what were the error messages when you modprobed it ?

i get fatal for everything to do with sb 16
