Kernel 2.6.0 pass init= to kernel?

I have compiled 2.6.0 kernel...

Lilo is updated, but when i reboot with new kernel i get

VFS: Cannot root device "LABEL=/" on unknown-block (0,0)
Please append a correct "root=" boot option
Kernel panic: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block (0,0)

Does anyone know what it is, and do i need to recompile or just edit my lilo.conf

image=/boot/vmlinuz-2.6.0
label=2.6.0
initrd=/boot/initrd-2.6.0.img
read-only
append="hdc=ide-scsi root=LABEL=/"

image=/boot/vmlinuz-2.4.23
label=Linux
initrd=/boot/initrd-2.4.23.img
read-only
append="hdc=ide-scsi root=LABEL=/"

If you need more data do say so...

QUOTE]change the LABEL=/ to /dev/hdXY in /etc/fstab and in lilo also and rerun lilo /dev/hdXY = ur root partition[/QUOTE]

Works

But i have recompiled the kernel cause i needed different configuration...

Got another problem...

mount: error 19 mounting ext3
pivot-root: pivot_root(/sysroot, /sysroot/initrd) failed: 2
umount /initrd/proc failed: 2
Freeing unused kernel memory: 252 free
Kernel panic: No init found. Try passing init= option to kernel

So i edited lilo.conf to look like this:

image=/boot/vmlinuz-2.6.0
label=2.6.0
initrd=/boot/initrd-2.6.0.img
read-only
append="hdc=ide-scsi root=/dev/hda1 init=/sbin/init"

But it is unsuccessful.
And few lines before "mount: error 19 mounting ext3" there is message like this:

VFS: Mounted root (ext2 filesystem )

What should ne init= to pass to kernel...
I
And if i am not mistaking the pivot_root is like a program that lets system switch from initrd to real root partition.. (i read it somewhere)
I have found thread on Linux questions that says to look if /initrd is empty and reconfigure grub...
Didn't help me much...

I even saw somewhere to pass init=/bin/bash ??

As far as I'm aware of the initrd created by redhat9 mkinitrd doesnt work properly with 2.6, and also a few modifications to /etc/rc.d/rc.sysinit is needed otherwise it'll spit out strange errors.
Ditch the initrd, compile the filesystem and ide chipset into the kernel, then it should at least boot. There's some other things you should take note of, ide-scsi is broken in 2.6, you should use atapi burning. Also apparently due to a bug in rpm, you have to "export LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.2.5" before invoking the rpm command, otherwise it won't work. Don't forget you need the updated module-init-tools, the modutils for 2.4 is not good.

Yes u better omit the initrd section (ie run without initrd).
