Kernal Panic - reiserfs

I'm having problems with my SUSE 9.1 Pro install.

AMD2000+
ATI 9800 Pro
1GB RAM

After recompiling the kernel to get my ATI 9800 card working, all was well. But, like most people, I like to keep my system upto date with bug fixes etc when released by SUSE.

Some of these patches effect the kernel as did a recent one which I believe started this problem (can't remember which one it was).

Anyway, when I boot now I get the following problem followed by a kernel panic message -

reiserfs: version magic '2.6.5-7.111-default 586 REGPARM gcc-3.3' should be '2.6.5-7.108-default K7 REGPARM gcc-3.3'

insmod: error inserting '/lib/modules/2.6.5-7.111-default/kernel/fs/reiserfs.ko': -l Invalid Module

I'm hoping this is a quick fix but being linux it's not going to be is it? :(

I've fixed the problem by changing the /boot/grub/menu.lst file entry for Linux to now boot with vmlinuz instead of vmlinuz-2.6.5-7.108-ATI (which was an altered kernel that enabled 3D for my ATI 9800 Pro), so it's using the SUSE patched kernel.

Doing this however, removed support for 3D with my ATI card. So after a bit of digging at the SUSE site I found this - ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/i386/su...x/3.14.1/README

which I followed and now have a fully functioning 3D enabled system again
