Kerberos Auth

Hi,

I need to add my RHEL 3 WS to an existing Windows AD. I have configured /etc/krb5.conf file and was able to get a kerberos ticket using kinit. Also, checked the same using the klist. I also checked the event logs on my DC and there was the Account Logon entry there for my Windows user.

However, the issue is that if i try to login using the credentials of my AD user from the login screen, linux dosen't permits me to do so. I get incorrect login.

Also, i have not installed SAMBA package on my RHEL WS, since i do not want to make it as member server, but just a workstation

Any help on this would be appricated.

Regards,
Sachin

pam_krb

Do you have the pam_krb module installed & configured? If not, google it.

yup, do have pam_krb5, I simply copied the login file with Kerberos authentication from the example directory to /etc/pam.d, but was not able to authenticate the user. When i checked the /var/log/message i found the following:

pam_krb5: unable to determine uid/gid for the user.
pam_krb5: Authentication faliure.
