kdm on startup
I've just installed Slackware 10.1 and I'm trying to get my login the way I want it. When I set the startup runlevel to 4 in inittab, I get a Gnome login screen on startup (I presume thats GDM) but I want the KDE login screen, how do I set that? Also, how can I have the options to Shutdown and Reboot from KDE instead of only having the "Logout" option? Thanks in advance!

try commenting out the GDM section in /etc/rc.d/rc.4
for KDE, iirc there's some settings you can change in the admin module of kcontrol - but I don't know if shutdown is one of them... |
Bingo! Actually what I did was reverse the order in /etc/rc.d/rc.4, it was setup to try GDM first then goto KDM. Now I get the KDE login after boot and I can now also choose Shutdown and Reboot from KDE. Thanks a bunch, Genesee!
