Question kdenlive crashing

Code:
Graphics: Card: NVIDIA GM107 [GeForce GTX 750 Ti]
Display Server: X.Org 1.18.3 drivers: nvidia
Unusual situation.

Kdenlive has been crashing upon preview playback when GPU is enabled. This is very similar to this KDE issue

with this output
Code:
GL error 0x502 at flat_input.cpp:67
Aborted
To submit a report, it says to do this
Code:
gdb kdenlive
then type run

However, the error does not occur when running under gdb (GNU Debugger), no crash occurs when doing the same steps.

I've been searching GL error 0x502 but I'm unclear why it happens and especially why it only happens when not running under gdb.
