Smile KDE User - but what is Gnome like?

I have installed Debian GNU/Linux wheezy
with the KDE desktop. Is it possible for me to
try out Gnome?

Just install "gnome" package. You can choose during login which desktop you want. If you like, you can mix gdm/kdm (login manager) with Gnome/KDE desktop somewhere in configuration or install only neededed components like ssession-manager or window manager, but for trying install all. Also you can run appliactions written for Gnome on KDE desktop and vice versa.

So you know mate, if you're running Debian stable, you'll have installed gnome 2.x, which is very different to the current gnome 3.x, available in testing.
